Naranjo, Kevin & Maria Rose – Jar with Deer, Pueblo, and Feather Designs (1994)

Kevin Naranjo and Maria Rose Naranjo worked together on pottery in the late 1980s and early 1990s.  Marian made and polished the pottery while Kevin etched the designs.  The shapes of their pottery are wonderful with the wide shoulder and elongated neck.  This jar is highly polished and etched with a realistic deer and pueblo scene.  The scene extends from the shoulder to the base and the deer are amazingly detailed and realistic!  The rim of the jar has an avanyu and a feather design.  The top of the bowl is black-and-sienna in coloration, as is the deer.  The bowl is from 1994 and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed, “Kevin Naranjo and Maria Rose”.

Kevin Naranjo is a son of noted potter Geri Naranjo and a brother of Monica Romero. He is known for the realism of his etched pottery and over the years has won numerous awards for his pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Market.

Naranjo, Marian Rose (b. 1950)

In the 1970's she worked with Ernest Naranjo and they signed their work together. In the 1990's she made pottery for Kevin Naranjo and they signed their work together.
