Natseway, Charmae – Fine-Line Seedpot with Mimbres Fish Design (1987)
Charmae Natseway is known for her exceptional painted pottery and use of distinctive forms. This seedpot is thin-walled and has a sharp shoulder and a very flat top. The top is painted with a fine-line flower and a Mimbres fish in the center. Note the three different colors of clay used for the fish. The outer edge of the seedpot has a red, black, and white wave design. They are painted in a very angular manner which gives the piece a modernist appearance. The piece is signed on the bottom, “Charmae Natseway”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. Charmae has long been exceptional in her painting and pottery forms.
