Charles Navasie was a grandson of noted potter Joy “Frogwoman” Navasie and the son of Loretta Navasie. This jar has a high shoulder and short neck. The top of the shoulder and s cloud and wind designs. Around the side are stylized birds. The piece is tightly painted, and the imagery perfectly matches the shape of the jar. It was traditionally fired. It is signed on the side with his stylized frog hallmark. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.

Description
Charles Navasie was a grandson of noted potter Joy “Frogwoman” Navasie and the son of Loretta Navasie. This bowl is thin-walled and has a round shoulder and a flat top. It is painted with bee-weed, a deep red clay slip and a mavue colored clay. The top of the bowl has a star pattern that is filled-in with red clay and has a band of mavue colored-clay. The mauve color is a rare clay at Hopi and Charles got his from Mark Tahbo, with whom he was friends. The top has three sections with swirling Sikyatki birds. The side has tadpoles. The piece is tightly painted, and the imagery perfectly matches the shape of the jar. It was traditionally fired. It is signed on the bottom with his stylized frog hallmark and “C. Navasie”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
