8.5"w x 6"h

$ 975.00

Seferina Ortiz was the matriarch of a family of renowned potters, including Virgil Ortiz, Janice Ortiz, and Lisa Holt. This is an exceptional piece of her pottery.  It is an open bowl that is coil-built.  The exterior is slipped white and painted with wild spinach (a plant) for the black.  The bowl has three lizards in relief on the sides and rim. The rim has a cloud design and there are three classic Cochiti-style clouds on the sides.  The lizards are each painted on their backs with designs.  The bowl is exceptional in shape, size, and design.  Definitely one of Seferina’s classic vessels.  It is signed near the base, “Seferina Ortiz”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
