Paulita Pacheco was a sister of noted potter Robert Tenorio.  She was married to Gilbert Pacheco and her daughter, Rose Pacheco continues to make traditional-style Kewa pottery.  Paulita learned to make pottery from her mother Juanita C. Tenorio and grandmother Andrea Ortiz. This is a large open bowl that is coil-built and painted with wild spinach plant (black) and red clay slip. The exterior has a series of wild spinach plant designs.  The interior has a deer along with plants painted black and red. The bowl was traditionally fired.  The piece is signed on the bottom, “Paulita Pacheco”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
