Pahponee (Kickapoo) is known for her contemporary pottery. Her name means “Snow Woman”. She began making pottery in the early 1980s. She is a descendant of the Kickapoo and Potawatomi Nations, originally from the Great Lakes. This tall jar is made from white clay. It is entitled, “Buffalo Run”. There are buffalo etched into the clay around the neck. The jar was fired to create colorful smoke and blushes on the surface. It is signed, “Pahponee”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

Extending down from the rim, there is a carved snake, fish, wolf, buffalo, maiden, butterfly, and turtle. Next to them, the jar has been textured with a swirling design. The piece is entitled, “Beginnings”. It is signed, “Pahponee”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. There is a Blue Ribbon from the 2000 Red Earth Festival and a Blue Ribbon from the 2000 Indian Art Northwest.
