This is a classic small water jar by Anderson Peynetsa. The jar is a classic shape with a round shoulder and a slight neck.  The jar has a cloud and rain design around the neck.  The body of the jar is the natural color of the clay.  It is then painted with four heartline deer encircling the piece.  Each deer is very tightly painted and they are stylized with thin legs. The heartline deer is a classic image in Zuni pottery, with the heart representing the strength and spirit of the animal. It is an elegant and striking vessel.  The jar on the bottom, “A. Peynetsa”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
