This is an exceptional piece by Jordan Roller.   The jar is primarily the natural color of the clay. The rim is matte while the remainder of the piece is polished.  The shoulder of the jar has a feather pattern alternating in red, tan and matte versions of the polished slips.  The opposite sides have an interlocking kiva step and cloud pattern.  Jordan has used the clay colors and matte and polished surfaces to emphasize his designs. It is a complex process but the result is striking with the final colorations!  This alternation of very thin cut lines and larger, more open spaces, is a distinctive feature of this young potter.  This sophisticated technique is balanced with great shapes, creative designs and beautifully stone polished surfaces.  The last photos are pics of the jar in process before it was fired.  Jordan is certainly a  young potter to watch!
