Susan Roller Whittington (b. 1955) is a daughter of Toni Roller and a granddaughter of Margaret Tafoya.  She is the mother of Charles Lewis.  She learned to make pottery from her mother.  While she no longer makes pottery, most of her pieces were made during the 1990s.  There is always creativity and elegance in her work.  This is a “gourd jar” with indented sides. The oval shaped intentions were inspired by the gourd shards used to smooth out the interior of the pottery. This jar has seven gourd intentions.  The jar is fully polished and fired a glassy black. It is signed, “Susan Roller”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
