Shirley Tafoya was the youngest daughter of Margaret Tafoya and was known for her miniature pottery.  This is an early piece of her pottery from 1976.  It is coil-built, deeply carved, and fully polished. The bowl has four panels of design with deeply carved mesa and rain patterns.  The bowl is highly polished and fired a deep black coloration.  The bowl is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Shirley Cactus Blossom Tafoya”.
