Kathleen Jopovi Tafoya Silva (b.1947) is a daughter of Mary Agnes Tafoya and a granddaughter of Severa Tafoya. She learned to make pottery from her grandmother. This is a small melon bowl. There are 16 carved ribs, each extending from the near the rim to the base. The piece is highly polished and fired a glassy black. The rim was two-toned sienna after the firing. It is signed, ‘Jopovi Tafoya Silva”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
