Suina, Jeff – “Cochiti Frogs” Jar

7"w x 8.25"h

$ 1,200.00

Jeff Suina works in clay and mutli-media.  This jar is coil-built, slipped with white clay, painted with bee-weed, and traditionally fired.  The jar has a round body and two spouts.  Each spout is designed as a frog.  Why frogs? Frogs are a classic Cochiti figurative image as the Pueblo is located on the river.  On the sides of the piece are large Cochiti-style rainclouds and swirling clouds.  The vase was traditionally outdoor fired, so there are slight color variations on the surface.  One thing you can’t see, but can feel, is how smooth Jeff sanded and polished the surface.  It has a suede-like feel!  The piece is signed, “Jeff Suina”.
