This is a highly polished red seed jar by Jennifer Tafoya. It has a round shoulder and a short neck. The entire piece is fully polished red.  It is etched with four horned lizards on the side of the piece.  Check out the detail in the scales on each one!  Amazing!  They are highlighted with additional clay slips for coloration. There is a sand design around the top of the shoulder and additional arrow patterns.  All the various colors are derived from natural clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer Tafoya”.  Jennifer continues to be one of the leading innovative potters working today!  She most recently won the “Tony Da Award” for innovative pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market in 2019 and “Best of Show” in 2023!
