This is an intricately designed seed jar by Jennifer Tafoya.  She is known for her clay vessels and also her amazing animal figures!  This jar is fully polished and fully designed.  On one side are two red-tail hawks flying over the mountains.  The opposite side has two more red-tail hawks flying among the clouds.  Note how she carved the clouds into the clay to create additional depth and dimension. The separating sides of the jar have flowers and traditionally Pueblo designs.  There is a lot of intricate detail work on this piece.  All the various colors are derived from natural clay slips.  Jennifer continues to be one of the leading innovative potters working today!  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer Tafoya.”
