Jennifer Tafoya is known for her clay vessels and also her amazing animal figures.  Jennifer said this was the first wedding vase she had made in over ten years!  It is a creative shape with a wide, sharp shoulder and short spouts. The entire piece is fully polished.  The top of the handle has incised lightning bolts.  On the top of the vase are two large Lesser Goldfinch.  The detail on the feathers is exceptional, as is the coloration.   There is a subtleness to the colors and the way they match the feathers. They are surrounded by small blossoms that create additional realism and the shading of the clays.  If you look closely, there are even two small bees as part of the design.  There are additional cloud and wind designs in the background of the design.  The bottom has additional blossoms and wind patterns. All the various colors are derived from natural clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Jennifer Tafoya”.
