This is a classic carved long-neck jar by Margaret Tafoya. It is from the 1960s.  The jar is coil-built and tall in form and has a carved band around the neck of the piece.  The jar is deeply carved with a flowing cloud, rain, and lighting design.  The designs encircle the entire jar.  This style of design and this shape are classic for her work from this period. The jar is highly polished and fired a deep, glassy black.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Margaret”.  It’s a creative piece reflecting one of her most creative periods.
