Tafoya, Quincy “Eagle Feather” – Bowl with Carved Avanyu
Quincy “Eagle Feather” Tafoya is a son of noted potter Myra Little Snow Tafoya, a grandson of Lucy Yearflower and a great-grandson of Camilio Tafoya. He is the nephew of Shawn, Kelli Little Katchina, and Forrest Tafoya. Over the years he has made very little pottery. This bowl is fully carved with a water serpent. It is a complex design that encircles the entire piece. The avanyu is polished while the background area is matte and fully vertically incised. His style is much in the same manner as that of both Myra and Lucy. The bowl is signed on the bottom, “Quincy Eagle Feather”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
