Shirley Tafoya was the youngest daughter of Margaret Tafoya and was known for her miniature pottery.  This wedding vase is from 1996.  It is coil-built and very deeply carved with an avanyu encircling the piece.  On one side there is a small bear paw carved into the clay.  The entire piece is fully polished. Note how even the underside of the handle is fully polished!  WOW!  The vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Shirley Cactus Blossom Tafoya”.  It has a third-place ribbon from the 1996 Eight Northern Pueblos show.  A classic of Tafoya Family pottery!
