Tahbo, Mark – Seed Bowl with Quail (1993)

4"w x 3"h

$ 775.00

Mark Tahbo learned to make pottery from his great-grandmother, Grace Chapella.  His pieces reflect the wonderful symmetry and thin walls of an excellent potter.  This seedbowl is from 1993.  It is coil-built and stone polished and then painted with bee-weed and clay slips.  The top has a quail with tracks across the surface.  Below the shoulder are traditional geometric patterns of rain and cloud designs.  The bowl was traditionally fired to create slight coloration of the blushes on the surface. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed on the bottom, “Mark Tahbo”.
