Jason Takala has long been one of the most sought-after Hopi jewelers, creating the classic double overlay.  Each piece is creatively designed and then cut out of sterling silver or gold and then soldered to the second piece of silver.  As long as I have known Jason, he has been fascinated with making “pottery” in silver.  This is a spectacular large seedpot pot.  I had asked him about making a lager maze piece and then he asked about a maze lid.  Of course, I said that would be exciting to see.  The result is a large double overlay seedpot with eight rows of maze design.  The double overlay is soldered to a bottom layer of silver.  The lid is his classic VERY thin lined domed man-in-the-maze designs.  The piece captures both of his signature styles in one piece!  For Jason, this design represents man emerging from the center of the Earth and migrating to the four directions.  It is a complex and precision-oriented design to cut into silver!  It is stamped on the back with his signature.
