$ 1,800.00

WOW!  This is an exceptional large water jar by Joe Talachy (b. 1943) and Thelma Talachy (b. 1942).  They are two of the few potters from Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico.  Thelma is a sister of Minnie Vigil, Lois Gutierrez, and Gloria Garcia.  Their daughter, Melissa Talachy, is also a well-known potter.  Each piece is coil-built and painted with natural clay slips.  This is a large water jar with a round body and an elongated neck.  The jar is painted with SIX different colors of clay!  The jar has mountain designs in red.  They are separated by cloud and feather designs with blue clouds.  The jar is one of the largest we have had of their work and the designs and coloration are exceptional in person!  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Joe & Thelma Talachy”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
