Joe Talachy (b. 1943) and Thelma Talachy (b. 1942) are two of the few potters from Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico.  Thelma is a sister of Minnie Vigil, Lois Gutierrez and Gloria Garcia.  Their daughter, Melissa Talachy, is also a well-known potter.  Each piece is coil built and painted with natural clay slips.  This larger jar is polished on the neck and base.  The center band is matte and painted with various colors of clay slips to create the designs.  Note the very thin lines of the painting!  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Joe & Thelma Talachy”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
