Tapia, Tom & Sue – Bowl with Deer Dancer, Lizard and 26 Melon Ribs
$ 850.00
This is a large bowl by Tom and Sue Tapia. The bowl was coil-built, carved, and stone polished by Sue. The piece has 26 melon ribs carved into the clay. They alternate between polished and micaceous. There are two larger sections that are etched with design. There is a Pueblo Deer Dancer on one side and a Mimbres lizard on the other. They were etched into the clay by Tom. The reddish color in the area surrounding the sgraffito designs is a “signature” clay color for Tom’s pottery designs. The jar is signed, “Tom & Sue Tapia”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
