This is one of the few redware collaborative pieces we have had by Tom and Sue Tapia.  The bowl was coil-built, carved, and polished by Sue Tapia.  Tom then etched the designs into the clay.  There are eight melon ribs on each side, separated by larger etched medallions. The medallions were etched with a design by Tom Tapia.  There is a Katsina, animal tracks, and feather patterns. One Katsina is a drummer figure, and the other is an Ogre (a disciplinarian!).  The carving the polishing are exceptional.  The bowl was traditionally fired.  It is signed, “Tom & Sue Tapia”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
