Tse-Pe & Dora – Large Black-and-Sienna Bowl with Heartline Bears & Turquoise (1973)

8"w x 4.75"h

$ 2,500.00

This bowl is an early piece by Tse-Pe Gonzales and Dora from 1973.  The bowl was made and polished by Dora and incised by Tse-Pe.  The design has two bears etched into the clay.  Note how he created a textured area surrounding the heartline.  On the sides opposite the bears are two inlaid pieces of turquoise.  They are surrounded by a sienna coloration. The stones are inset after the firing.  The piece is signed “Tse-pe and Dora”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  Tse-Pe and Dora worked individually from 1980-2000, but their early collaborative work remains innovative, creative, and of the highest quality even compared to many of today’s potters.  The last photo is one of Tse-Pe and Dora holding this piece in the 1973 ExxonUSA second quarter magazine.
