Adrian Vallo (b. 1964) is a grandson of Santana Cerno and Eva Histia. Barbara and Joseph Cerno are his aunt and uncle and Ergil Vallo (Dalawepi) was his cousin. Adrian began making pottery when he was twenty years old. This large jar is made from native clay, coil-built and painted with bee-weed and clay slips. It is inspired by a classic Acoma jar form the 1880s. The design has a series of interlocking vines and leaves. There are additional leaves extending up to the rim. The piece is signed on the bottom, “A. Vallo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
