Leland Vallo was a son of noted potter, Marie Vallo, and the brother of Kim Vallo. He learned to make pottery from his mother and began making pottery in 1991. This wedding vase is coil-built and intricately painted. The entire piece has an interlocking black-and-white Tularosa swirl design with thin lines representing rain. The top of the handle and spouts are painted with red clay. The jar is signed on the bottom, “L. Vallo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.

This small wedding vase is coil-built and intricately painted. There is a stylized Mimbres Lizard on one side and a Mimbres deer on the other. They are surrounded by traditional Acoma water, rain, feather, and cloud designs. The bottom has a black-and-white Tularosa swirl design with thin lines representing rain. The top of the handle is also painted with designs! The use of black-and-white below the shoulder and additional red clay above is often associated with his pottery. The jar is signed on the bottom, “L. Vallo”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
