This is a classic bowl by Lorriane Williams.  It has a round body and the rim is carved in a stepped cloud or mesa design.  The side of the bowl has large rug designs incised into the clay and highlighted in red and black. The jar was traditionally fired and was covered in pinon pitch, which is typical of all traditional Navajo pottery harkening back to when it was utilitarian.   It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “LW”.  Lorraine has won numerous awards for her pottery and has been featured in books such as “A Legacy of Generations”.
