Alvina Yepa (b. 1954) learned to make pottery from her mother, Felipita Nonche Yepa. She began making pottery in the 1980’s and in 1987 won First Place and Best of Division for her pottery at Santa Fe Indian Market. This melon bowl has 25 carved ribs. Each rib is stone polished. The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Alvina Yepa”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
