Martina Aguino began making pottery in the late 1930s period. By the late 1960s through the 1970s she continued to make pottery with her son, Diego Aguino. She would make the vessel and he would create the designs. The neck and base are fully poilshed red. This jar is carved with two swirling eagles on each side. Above each eagle is a cloud design. Separating them are corn stalks The designs are carved into the clay and then highlighted with white and red clay slips. The tan is the natural color of the clay. The jar is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed, “Diego Aguino and Martina Aguino” on the bottom in the clay.
