Martinez, Maria – Clay Horno Oven, “Marie” 1930s
4" long x 3"w x 2.75"h
$ 975.00
This is an unusual piece by Maria Martinez. It was made and polished by Maria Martinez. It is a small clay ‘horno oven”. The Horno Oven is usually made of clay on the pueblos and where bread is baked. From the 1920s to the 1960s, these were popular souvenirs in the Pueblos. The piece is highly polished and fired a silvery, nearly gunmetal black. It is a charming piece. The horno oven is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Marie”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
