Santiago Romero is the son of noted Cochiti potter Diego Romero and nephew of Mateo Romero. In the past, he made figurative clay coyotes and smaller vessels. He is also known for his oil paintings. This jar is coil-built and has a round shape and turned out rim. The jar was fired and then painted. The jar is entitled, “Summer”. The jar has a striking blue sky and colorful mesas. The rim and the inside rim have gold leafing. The jar is a creative departure from his paintings on canvas. It is signed on the bottom.
